About Irene:
Hi there! I am a 4th year student in the economics program at UBC. My general interests lie in the intersection of CS and microeconomics (game theory): I am very interested in mechanism design and information economics, and how we can use reinforcement learning to model boundedly rational, adaptively-learning agents. I currently work at the Bank of Canada, focusing on financial stability and systemic risk. I also work at the Vancouver School of Economics on some theoretical problems in game theory. In the past, I did a fair bit of work with natural language processing tools in economics and the social sciences. On the side, I’ve also been dabbling with markov decision processes and deep learning. If you are in CS or economics (or something else) and are interested in game theory, please reach out! I also know a lot about admissions to graduate programs in economics.
