About Luigi:
I am a fifth-year Honours Economics student at UBC, with research interests in macroeconomics, political economy, and labour economics.
My honours thesis, which examines how voters respond to national economic shocks across different levels of government, was awarded the 2026 Best Undergraduate Paper Award by the Canadian Economics Association and the Bank of Canada. I have research assistant experience in macro-development economics (cross-country structural transformation and wage disparity) and international finance (equity home bias). I was also part of the UBC team that won the 2025/26 Bank of Canada Governor’s Challenge, where I led the macroeconometric modelling section.
