About Lilian:
I am an undergraduate science student at UBC with research interests in computational biology, virology, microbial evolution, and bacteriophage therapy. My research has resulted in two publications in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and spans computational and experimental biology. At the National Research Council Canada (NRC), I investigated bacteriophage depolymerases targeting Acinetobacter baumannii capsules to support the development of phage therapy. I currently conduct social virus evolution research at UBC as part of my BIOL 448 thesis, where I use bioinformatics to identify and characterize novel proteins encoded by human influenza defective viral genomes and investigate their evolutionary and functional significance. This work is currently being prepared for publication. I have also conducted neurogenetics research using C. elegans.
