About Jenna:
Jenna is an M.A. student in the Counselling Psychology program, supervised by Dr. Anita Hubley. Her research focuses on the well-being of vulnerably housed individuals and on societal perceptions of marginalized populations. Her undergraduate thesis explored the link between disgust sensitivity and attitudes toward homelessness policies, including the mediating role of right-wing authoritarianism and the moderating role of media portrayals. She volunteered as a research assistant at the Matsuba Applied Development Lab, where she helped develop a mental wellness program for at-risk youth in Uganda. She furthered her research interests by studying social connectedness and prosocial behaviours among vulnerably housed individuals and testing whether learning about prosocial fantasies experienced by marginalized populations reduces cynicism. Her master’s thesis will examine how viewing unhoused individuals influences viewers’ attitudes and whether financial anxiety plays a role.
